My latest story explores the struggle with the dependence of a neuro-divergent woman on her family and her desire for independence. She confronts her sister, and that scene shows her coming to realize the co-dependency she has with her family and how this dependence is holding her back from pursuing her agency. This internal conflict is further mirrored in a dream has–I believe that when we rest, answers come. The symbols in the nocturnal escape symbolize her struggle to break free from the toxic influence of her family and find her self-reliance. The story ends with her taking a step toward independence by distancing herself from a potential crutch she just met, committing to confronting her dependence and believing in and embracing her strength.
