Festival of Lights Diwali, that lit millions of hearts, is going to be celebrated on October 29, 2024. Diwali, or rather the festival representing light against darkness or good over evil, is being celebrated along with the people all across this earth who believe in the hope of their renewals. Its legends reach further down into rich traditions, tracing the path through traditions of Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism, and Buddhism.
These are done over a period of five days, starting with Dhanteras, which is a festival of prosperity and new buying, followed by Choti Diwali, where purification is celebrated, and then Diwali—the actual festival of lighting and fireworks to celebrate the goddess of wealth, Lakshmi. Govardhan Puja is to thank nature, followed by Bhai Dooj, which celebrates siblings.

In 2024, there has been a huge focus on sustainability that motivates very green lighting with LEDs, biodegradable decoration, and various alternatives for the fireworks, leading to celebrations by communities within responsibility. While families even join virtually and communities lead charity work, Diwali manages to include what is most modern in form and at the same time retain that which is purely traditional in nature.
Food takes the center, with ladoos and savory treats from traditional sweets on the table for Diwali. More people find health-conscious versions of the same dish, combining tradition with a new taste. The Diwali message of resilience, renewal, and unity stands tall, reminding all of the smallest light that has the power to brighten up our world.
