Let’s meet another great filmmaker in my circles
I have a passion for shining a spotlight on filmmakers, media personalities, and gamers. There’s something magical about stepping into their world, feeling their emotions, and translating that connection into stories my readers can truly feel. I introduce a few and will link them at the end of this story.
Today, I want to introduce Amey Deo a storyteller who’s lived through a plot twist or two. From acing inter-school cricket matches and national-level table tennis tournaments to leading creative teams in the Hindi film industry, he’s packed a lot into his stories so far — and it’s still unfolding.
Like many kids in India, Amey’s childhood came with a mandatory engineering script. Sports might have been his first love, but societal expectations had him swapping badminton rackets for circuit boards.
Amey earned his degree, landed a comfortable IT job, and settled into a career that was perfectly fine — until it wasn’t.
Feeling like something was missing, Amey started making short films with his colleagues. It was just for fun, but the spark was undeniable.
One day, he sent those short films to a film school on a whim. The response was a scholarship offer and a nudge that said, “Hey, you might actually be good at this!”
Since then, Amey has built an 11-year career as a screenwriter and director in the Hindi film industry, with over 100 projects under his belt. Fiction, ad films, brand films — he’s done it all.
These days, he’s the Senior Creative Director at Pocket FM, where he manages a team of over 50 creatives and produces generative AI films using cutting-edge tools like MidJourney and RunwayML.
But Amey’s professional life isn’t just about lights, cameras, and actions. He’s also a prolific writer. With two active newsletters and a Medium portfolio full of thoughtful essays, he shares lessons on creativity, storytelling, and life itself. He’s even turning his 250+ long-form articles into two non-fiction books. Clearly, downtime isn’t part of his vocabulary.

Amey’s philosophy on creativity is refreshingly grounded: “Instead of putting pressure on your creativity to provide for you, be resourceful enough to provide for your creativity.” It’s advice he lives by, and his work shows how it’s done.
So, here’s your chance to dive into stories of Amey Deo. Whether it’s screenwriting, storytelling, or finding new ways to think creatively, his journey is proof that life gets interesting when you take the unexpected path.
