“Wear gratitude like a cloak, and it will feed every corner of your life.” – Rumi

Below is a ink to a Substack with an informal, rather spontaneous video to show how to create a visual gratitude practice. The simple exercise lifts me up, especially in the mornings. When you do it, it gives feedback as to whether your cup is half-full, full, or overflowing. You will be surprised how full it is. Here is the video link:

Friend, you are more than a teacup,
you are more than you or anyone can see or know.
What you appreciate grows.
You can use a drawing of a teacup
to write, mini-journal, the glimmers,
tiny yay moments, in yesterday
and this morning.
Your brain
will thank you. Your left prefrontal cortex
will raise you from your primitive amygdala
which can depress you. Seventy percent
of its neurons feed on danger, the negative.
Enjoy this informal, spontaneous video of me, my friend, daughter, and dog Rumi.
With thanks for you reading, and watching the video if you’d like to. You can wear the cloak of gratitude in more and more corners of your life.

- There are various applications of this exercise applied to a project, relationship, or a review of your life. I hope to share a series in the future. The video linked above shows a foundational gratitude practice that can be used regularly. Here below was one of my teacups appreciating people and events in my entire life. Doing this practice puts on a new set of gratitude eye-glasses.
