I have seen great leaders and influencers talking about resilience and inspiring people to develop flexibility and tolerance for adverse circumstances — to enable them to face the toughest challenges that life brings about every now and then.
Do you really think and believe that being resilient can help you protect your mental health and strengthen your mind and body against psychological abuse?
I was recently abused by two of my high-profile women colleagues late at night through the online workspace. I had seen them abusing other team members openly during the team meetings and in the conversation channel in the past several months, but never had the audacity to question them (not because I lacked courage or self-esteem, but because the victims never dared to raise their voice against the wrongdoings).
I truly believe that my silence against the ongoing workplace harassment is still not justified. I provided myself with the above reasoning to satisfy my ego and to justify my ‘no action’ against the psychological abuse at the workplace. I strongly regretted my inaction against workplace abuse the moment I felt its tremors when the authoritative women colleagues challenged my integrity, questioned my honesty and dedication, and threatened my mental health to an unprecedented level.
I recalled a similar abuse by another woman colleague in the office almost 12 years back and the strong techniques I used to train my mind and body to recover from the bloody trauma and the uncontrolled flux of toxicity that was about to destroy my self-respect and ruin my entire existence.
The recent episode of psychological abuse was another jolt to my integrity and forced me to recall the fact that if I fail to do anything concrete about it, I might end up struggling with suicidal ideation. So I decided to raise my voice strongly and took a solid stand, not against the evil ladies, but against their wicked actions (i.e., psychological abuse).
My experience of psychological abuse tells me that it is a serious and life-threatening condition that should be discussed a lot and together: — we “the peace-loving humble people” should unite and do everything possible to defeat all ridiculous thought processes that continue to trigger psychological abuse and the eventual trauma that takes the precious lives and continues to transform this planet into a deadly hell.
I decided to navigate the evidence-based medical literature and club the relevant findings with my own (practical) experiences to prepare and serve the world the time-tested recipe to counter psychological abuse.
