There is a lever, that if pressed, would stop the trolley and divert it down another track, saving their lives – but one man would still be killed.
An alternative ‘utilitarian‘ choice is that a fat man standing on the bridge is pushed over to stop the trolley – but who would do that? This moral dilemma is discussed.
According to research, both psychopaths and non-psychopaths might make the same choices, but for very different reasons and motives. This story discusses how moral and immoral utilitarian choices are made – not always for the ‘greater good’.
