More than 90% of people in India earn less than ₹25,000 per month (around $300). Only 3–5% cross ₹1 lakh (about $1,200).
And this is not just in India. Globally, most people remain stuck between $300 and $500 per month. Only a small percentage exceed $1,000.

I know the feeling of being in that place where income isn’t enough. I also know it is possible to move forward. What worked for me was following a simple process.
It really comes down to two paths:
- What you can do alongside your current job.
- What you can add as a new stream.
These two approaches are the foundation. Let me share how.
Method 1: Offer Services
Even in your job right now, you are already providing a service. The only difference is you are doing it for one employer. What if you offered the same expertise outside?
At first, you may think — “Won’t this become a second job?” Maybe yes. If your side service starts giving you more income than your main job, you’ll have the freedom. You can decide which one to keep.
My Example
I offered LinkedIn branding services for a few months. I helped people create content, build their personal brand, and generate leads.
I charged ₹40,000 per client (about $500). With 4–5 clients, that added up to ₹1.6 lakh (about $2,000) in a month.
Later, I moved back to my first passion, coaching. But the service model works.

Method 2: Learn High-Paying Skills
We live in the internet age. Some skills are valuable not just today but for the next decade. Three of them are:
- Copywriting
- Affiliate Marketing
- Digital Marketing
These are powerful because they work both ways. You can use them to grow your own work, or you can offer them as services to others.

If you feel stuck, adding one of these skills can change your earning potential.
Method 3: Teaching, Training, Coaching, Consulting
This is my favorite. Here you turn your expertise into a product.
If you know sales, HR, pharma, or marketing, you can create a small course or training program. In India, keeping the price under ₹10,000 (about $120) works well. Even ₹3,000–₹4,000 ($35–$50) is effective.
Do the math:
- 10 sales of a ₹10,000 course = ₹1 lakh (~$1,200).
- 10 sales of a ₹3,000 course = ₹30,000 (~$360).
Small numbers add up quickly.
Another model is e-books and digital products. I’ve seen people selling $10–$20 e-books on Gumroad. It’s simple: write, publish, share.
My Example
On my YouTube channel, I uploaded free videos for the NISM exam (mutual fund distributor certification). Out of 12 chapters, I uploaded 8–9 openly.
Below those videos, I quietly added a link to a ₹199 (about $2.50) one-pager product. I didn’t even promote it heavily. People watched, clicked, and bought.
Till now, that one small product has earned ₹9,000–₹10,000 (~$110–$120).
That’s how you start small and grow.
Final Thoughts
You don’t have to make a big leap all at once. Start with a service, add a high-paying skill, or launch a small product. Even an extra ₹30,000 (~$360) can boost your confidence and open new doors.
Once you see the process working, moving from a ₹25,000 ($300) salary to ₹1 lakh+ ($1,200+) per month becomes realistic.
