Have you guys ever felt confused or uneasy whenever you are being put on a spot, and asked “who are you?”
My faith reminds me that my truest identity is found in Christ — but coming to the natural dimension, it’s not always that simple to explain.
Why does it make one worried when they don’t actually know?
There’s a thought of perfectionism that clouds our mind when someone random can confidently say who they were. And this births guilt.
Who we are isn’t what we can confidently say. We don’t know what the future holds that might ruin what we thought we ought to be.
Who we are is as a result of the choices — whether good or bad, that we made in the past that makes us live with the present we have now. It’s also a result of the choices we would make in the future.
What influences our choices are the values we hold dear unto. This doesn’t mean mistakes are inevitable.
We learn and adopt values in every step we take.
So,next time, don’t beat yourself up when you don’t seem to know “who you are”. Just reflect on the values you carry.
