Practical Tips for Parents
I entered the world of writing when I gave birth to my son in 2021. I was suffering from postpartum depression and I needed a place to not only avail catharsis but help many other women and men suffering like me.
It’s been 4 years, and I have been very well managing it with 2 kids now.
Yes, I have days when I miss out on my writing tasks, but I make sure I catch up fast.
Here is how I manage my time and get opportunities to write:
When kids take their naps: Even if one of my kid is taking a nap, I quickly take out my phone’s notes or my notebook and start brainstorming ideas. I even write at least one article really fast and save it to the drafts for further proofreading later.
On Weekends: Weekend is the time when I can stay up late and work on my drafts and new articles. I am currently working on my website, so I utilise and divide my time between Medium and WordPress efficiently.
When I go for a walk: This is the time after dinner. My husband is super supportive of my journey as a writer and my fitness, both. So he looks after the kids, and I go for a walk, and during that time, I manage to write at least one article and submit it to the publication or publish it on my own publication on Medium.
So, this is how I manage as a stay-at-home mother who lives in Qatar with no house help. When I was in Pakistan, I was able to write more as I had help. But here, with time, I am slowly getting into a routine with the house and kids and coming back to writing more actively.
Writing makes me really happy. The self-achievement I get from it is phenomenal. I feel I have something to do for myself, and I want to achieve and build my own writing empire soon.
