The US President has demonized the Democratic Party.
To what end?

What is the Real Goal?
Written by James Alexander, PhD
Hello,
I am reminded almost every day, especially as I read the news, that things in our country aren’t what they used to be. I hear Marvin Gaye singing in my head, “What’s Going On?” We have always been a nation where our politics usually stood for at least 2 points of view about most of the “big issues.” Sometimes it has divided neighbors. Sometimes families. It has driven wedges between parents and children and married couples. But things are shifting (guided by hate) with a new speed and depth. Stick with me awhile and I’ll show you what I mean!
According to research by Pew Research Center:
· 46% of Americans identify with or lean toward the Republican Party,
· 45% identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party,
· 8% report no party leaning or refused to tell a preference.
In the most recent 2025 data from Gallup, independents currently lean more Democratic rather than Republican. (source)
According to the UMass Amherst poll:
· 69% of Trump 2024 voters are “very confident” they made the best and right choice
· 19% are “confident but have some concerns”
· About 10% admit they regret their vote. These voters have mixed feelings, or wish they hadn’t voted for Trump.
· This “remorse” figure has increased slightly and is notably greater among younger Trump voters.
I think anyone looking over this (and they are not “alternative facts”), must at the very least admit that half of the country is Democratic or leaning that way. Many of Trump’s supporters that I have listened to seem to want the “good old days” back. These stats are a picture of where things stand now.
What will happen when those awaiting the “good old days” see their Social Security or Medicare on the chopping block? Or, if not, family members losing Medicaid, or “Food Stamps?” Or their children or grandchildren not receiving any grants or loans for college? Maybe, the stats will shift even more. I don’t know how far it will go. I will plainly admit that I am not a fortune teller.
Yet, polling from Pew Research shows approval among 2024 Trump voters is quite high (85%), but it has slipped — especially among the under-35 segment (down to 69%). The Daily Beast and Yahoo/YouGov report significantly high degrees of regret among Gen Z Trump voters.

In his own words…
Here are a few quotes (plenty more are available — this was just the results of a quick Google search) from the President about Democrats in general:
1. “They hate Trump, but I hate them too. I really do; I hate them. I can’t stand them because I really believe they hate our country.” July 2025, (YouTube/Diario AS])
2. “The Democrats are destroying our country… we want to benefit Republicans because they are the ones that are going to make America great again.” May 2025, (YouTube/Diario AS)
3. “Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries and the congressional Democrats are holding the entire federal government hostage… Democrats are leaderless, and I don’t know whom to deal with.” October 2025, (Times of India)
4. “Democrats have SHUT DOWN the United States Government right in the midst of one of the most successful economies… they should open our government tonight!” October 2025, (Fox News)
5. “Democrats have no leader. They remind me of Somalia.” October 2025, (New Republic)
6. “Don’t even bother dealing with them (Democrats]!” September 2025, (Politico)
7. “We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous… our country is really SCREWED! June 2025, (Axios)
8. “Federal agencies are told to blame Democrats for a shutdown.” Trump administration directive, September 2025, (NPR)
In a Fox interview, Trump labeled Democrats as “the enemy from within.” He said that they pose a bigger danger than those considered countries standing for the antithesis of our democracy — countries like China and Russia. He went out of his way to give his special criticism of Adam Schiff, calling him a “lunatic.” He said a “smart president” could manage external threats but felt that he was mostly facing internal enemies.
Trump’s rhetoric, labeling his critics as criminals, is in keeping with his campaign’s talking points leading up to the 2024 election. Leading up to the election Trump expressed special concerns about possible domestic unrest. This unrest, he said, would be caused by “radical left lunatics.” He expressed his opinion that a strong response would be necessary to control and address the left lunatics in such situations. I guess you could say that is one campaign promise that he is currently making good on. (source)
“Enemy From Within?”
Would you like a little assignment (can’t help it, I was a teacher at elementary schools or college for about 40 years)? Just do some Google searches of the history of the phrase in politics. Senator Joseph McCarthy spoke of the “enemies within” often during the “Red Scare” in the last century. There were investigations, interrogations, and inquisitions around the concept.
Nazis such as Joseph Goebbels, often used the term “enemies of the people” to express disgust and hatred of Jews and other groups that didn’t fit into the society wanted by the Third Reich. The idea of the “enemy of the people” has often been used by dictators. Joseph Stalin used it to defend the persecution and purges of political dissenters.
The history of the concept/rhetoric has a long history. In the Reign of Terror, in 18th century France, laws were created targeting “enemies of the people.” Some of those laws made spreading of propagating news contrary to the regime a crime carrying the death sentence.
Reiterating some of the above, The Guardian made some insightful and interesting comparisons to past usage of the term and its current usage in MAGA rhetoric:
• Donald Trump’s use of “enemies of the people” especially targeting the media raises concerns because of its close association with totalitarianism.
• The phrase has historical roots, it was often used by dictators like Stalin, Mao, and the Nazis to justify violence against the “enemy from within.”.
• Stalin’s legacy was even denounced by the dictator Nikita Khrushchev. Even Nikita Khrushchev recognized the term resulted in cruel repression of dissent, where it was used to punish purveyors of “false news” with death.
• Joseph Goebbels used the term as part of Nazi propaganda to target Jews and others.
• Mao Zedong used the phrase to label enemies during a reign that must surely be seen as brutal.
• The U.S. Constitution protects the media. It is seen as a foundational element and necessary in a democracy. This would seem to be in opposition to Trump’s use of the phrase.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander…
“ActBlue[1] is an American Democratic Partypolitical action committee (PAC) and fundraising platform founded in 2004. ActBlue is a major part of the Democratic Party’s fundraising infrastructure.[2][3] As of 2025, ActBlue reports that it has raised $16 billion for Democratic candidates and causes since it was established.[4] ActBlue is organized as a PAC, but it serves as a conduit for processing individual contributions made through the platform. Under federal law, these contributions are made by individuals and are not considered PAC donations.” (source)
A donation appeal set to donors from ActBlue, tells it like it is. The things said in the appeal are demonstrably true:
POLITICO:Donald Trump has issued a Presidential Memorandum targeting ActBlue — the backbone of grassroots fundraising for Democratic candidates, organizations, and movements like ours.
This is a full-scale assault on the Democratic Party, political opposition, and your right to fight back at the ballot box. Trump knows this. He knows if he can dismantle our fundraising and organizing capabilities, he can cripple the very foundation of our democracy.
Trump has directed his cronies to investigate online fundraising. He is particularly targeting Act Blue. Act Blue is an essential part of Democratic fund raising. Supposedly there is a great concern in MAGA circles about illegal foreign contributions being filtered to Democrat causes through Act Blue. He wants Act Blue shamed, investigated, and who knows — some people indited, arrested, tared and feathered. What he is likely worried about is that Act Blue is more effective than its Republican counterpart, WinRed.
A review by AP found Trump’s campaign the recipient of questionable donations. That include over 1,500 from foreign sources. It found significant departures from the rules. Many donors had uncertain identities including a Chinese businessman with ties to Nigerian concerns.
Act Blue plays a significant role in Democratic campaigns for the upcoming midterm elections. This makes irregularities in MAGA finances even more questionable. Is anyone playing by the rules? Beats the hell out of me! But I do know that what is good for the goose is good for the gander. There are a few skeletons in the MAGA/Trump closet — no matter what Democrats have done or not done. What about redistricting?
A recent AP article discussed another one of DT’s priorities: Redistricting.
• Although drawing lines in states and communities is nothing new, such gerrymandering has taken on a new heightened urgency as Trump has encouraged (demanded?) states to redistrict for political gain.
• This has not gone unchallenged. In Missouri lawmakers passed legislation aimed at increasing Republican interests, but it has faced opposition — including a possible referendum on the decision made by their own representatives.
• Texas judges are reviewing the legality of redistricting which, quite intentionally is being promoted to reduce minority concerns (i.e. — it’s racist).
• Kansas Republicans may call for a special session to redistrict clearly targeting Democrats.
• Indiana is on the verge of redistricting in favor of Republican interest.
This list could go on. The salient point is that it is indicative of a continued pattern of cramming the Republican interests down the throats of people who probably don’t want it.
The evening news…
Here, during a government shutdown, we have a billionaires game being played in which we are all pawns. On the evening news tonight I heard Trump, with my own two ears, declare that he is going to target democratic states and interests and put most of the suffering caused by Trump’s shutdown on Democrats.
Yet, I could swear that the president is supposed to be the leader of the entire nation. How can he get away with blatantly saying that he is purposely going to make regular people and states that didn’t vote for him suffer? And what does it say about Republican lawmakers who go along with his entire agenda? What is his hold on the Republican Party? How can one person so dominate? I agree, we need a No Kings Act — and we need it soon!
What is the real goal?
Donald Trump has invented and reinvented himself many times. This is his current iteration. No matter what he does, you can be sure that he has his own interest at heart. As Mary Trump (his niece and a psychologist) put it: Donald is a child. She describes his family as highly dysfunctional.
But, if he is a child, he is one with considerable power. He is the president of the most powerful nation in the world. And what will become of that nation? I cannot say, but it will be permanently affected by him. Some have talked about it all ending in civil war. Good God! I hope not! I will never condone that.
But could it happen? I leave that to you to answer. But I think I can answer the question raised by this article. After examining all the evidence, I think we can only come to one conclusion. What does all the evidence above say?
The goal is to eradicate the Democratic Party. After all, it is the only thing standing in the way of absolute power. And you know what they say. Power corrupts. And absolute power corrupts absolutely.
