My whole house had been under the weather, and the viruses have been too bad across Qatar.
When it was my turn to contract the viral. I knew for sure that I didn’t want heavy dosages of medications. So, I decided to follow a more holistic approach.
Here are a few things that I did to help myself recover quickly and without any heavy antibiotics:
Herbal Tea:
In one and a half cups of water, I add one inch cinnamon and 3 cloves. I let it simmer for about 10 minutes after it starts to boil. I then have it hot with honey.
This tea is not only refreshing but also holds anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help with regaining strength and replenish the damage system.
Steam with a kettle:
My nasal passage for so congested this time around that I took frequent sessions of steam to clear them. I also put couple of cloves in steam water.
Rest and Recharge:
I listened to my body. I allowed it to rest when it needed it, and this helped tremendously.
Essential Oil Roll On:
You can also use some essential oils like peppermint oil and lavender oil. They both are great for congestion. Lavender is so soothing, too, and it will help you sleep comfortably.
Ginger Honey with a pinch of Black Pepper:
This is so, so good for your throat. Just warm up ginger honey and add a black pepper and swallow it slowly.
Salt Water Gargles:
Everyone is aware of this, and nothing can beat it when it comes to a sore throat. And that’s what helped my family and me when we are at the brink of catching a cold/viral.
So, these are a few tricks or practices that help me recover quickly from virals and have been followed since ages by my ancestors.
