We’ve all heard the stats on how most people quit their New Year’s resolutions by February. We’re inundated with advice about rapid growth hacks and going viral overnight.
But what if the secret to success wasn’t a clever trick, but a simple, almost brutal, commitment?
I was reading late one night, my second book of that January, when the clarity finally hit me. It wasn’t a new strategy; it was a fundamental law I had been following all along. I call it the Law of 100.
After analysing my own journey and the paths of other successful creators, I had to answer a few nagging questions:
- What’s the real number of attempts needed before you see tangible results?
- How do you overcome the overwhelming urge to quit when progress is slow?
- Is consistency really more important than initial perfection?
- Can a simple number create the momentum that leads to mastery?
Of course, all this comes with a giant warning…
The prerequisite for the Law of 100 to work is that whatever you commit to, do it 100 times before even thinking of quitting.
There’s no replacement for genuine effort and learning. This isn’t a gimmick to magically get 1 million followers without doing the work.
But once you’ve decided on a skill you truly want to master, how do you push through the noise and the self-doubt?
For those of you ready to put in the work, I’m excited to introduce you to a formula you can use to increase the chances of breaking through Any Plateau
Here is the one ingredient that will help you build unstoppable momentum:
1) Commit to 100 Repetitions Before You Even Think About Quitting.
We’ve all been told to “pivot fast” and “fail quickly.” This often leads us to abandon projects at the first sign of struggle — right in the middle of what Seth Godin calls “the dip,” that gruelling phase between starting and mastery where frustration is highest.
Most people quit in the dip. The Law of 100 pushes you to the breakthrough point.
I decided to test this. My goal on Medium was ambitious: 3,000 articles and 1 million followers. But I applied the Law of 100 first. My initial milestone wasn’t 3,000; it was simply to publish 100 articles, no matter the results.
Here’s the wild part:
My Medium growth following the Law of 100. The compound effect is real.
- After 100 articles, I had built a foundational writing habit and understood what resonated. The fear of publishing was gone.
- After 300 articles, my writing speed doubled, my ideas got sharper, and my followers grew to 3.7K and 1k subscribers.
- Not because I was better — but because I was still there.
This proves that most people aren’t willing to push through the initial “dip” of 100 attempts. They create a lot of noise at the start but vanish quickly.
How to apply the Law of 100:

- Want to grow on Medium? The goal is 100 articles. Ignore the stats on the first 99.
- Building a personal brand on Twitter/X? The goal is 100 high-quality tweets.
- Learning a new skill? The goal is 100 days of deliberate practice.
- Starting a business? The goal is 100 customer pitches.
For your first 100, ignore the outcomes. Like sales, followers, none of it matters. The only metric that matters is your repetition count. Each attempt is practice, not a success or failure.
Once you hit 100, then you decide if you want to continue. By then, you’ll have the momentum, skill, and clarity to make an informed decision, not an emotional one.
Key Ingredient: Set a goal of 100 repetitions before you allow yourself to judge the results. This builds the momentum needed to break through any plateau.
The Lesson
Greatness doesn’t come from a single viral moment. It comes from the compound effect of consistency. Don’t overthink, execute. . .
Article by article. Tweet by tweet. Day by day.
Each repetition under the Law of 100 makes you 1% better. And that’s exactly how mastery happens.

P.S. Most people aren’t willing to push through the initial dip of 100 attempts. They create a lot of noise at the start but vanish quickly. Will you be one of the few who stay?
