Journal of Emerging Technologies in Neuroscience (JETN)

About JETN [Journal of Emerging Technologies in Neuroscience]

As a discipline, neuroscience bridges the abstract and the everyday, from the mechanics of memory to the evolution of machines, from healing minds to building smarter societies. It informs not just our research, but our well-being, decision-making, and sense of possibility.

The Journal of Emerging Technologies in Neuroscience (JETN) advances scientific discovery, technological innovation, and holistic wellbeing through open-access, peer-reviewed scholarship. We serve as a bridge between academic researchers, industry leaders, practitioners, educators, and policymakers.

Our vision is to nurture global collaboration and accelerate progress in neuroscience, technology, and cognitive health. JETN publishes original research, reviews, and translational perspectives to benefit both theory and practice.

We focus on neuroscience as it stands at the crossroads of curiosity and discovery, reaching into every facet of how we think, feel, create, and connect. Its insights shape our understanding of health, technology, behavior, and innovation, reminding us that the science of the brain and the nervous sytem is, in many ways, the science of living.

In essence, the brain and nervous system are the foundation of life as we experience it—shaping how we sense, respond, and understand our place in both the world and the universe.

Acronym and Brand Usage:
The Journal of Emerging Technologies in Neuroscience is officially abbreviated as “JETN.” For broader distinction and visibility, “JEN-Tech” and “JETNeuro” are also used as secondary and alternative acronyms. All three refer exclusively to this publication, and their usage supports clarity in global search, interdisciplinary engagement, and digital discoverability. The acronyms were coined by the founder of the publication Dr Mehmet Yildiz.

Why JETN is Hosted on digitalmehmet.com which is a non-edu domain

JETN is hosted on digitalmehmet.com—a domain with an exceptional Domain Rating (DR 69, as measured by Ahrefs) and an extensive, high-quality backlink network. This means our journal enjoys superior discoverability, faster search engine indexing, and greater academic reach than most new or small publications, which often start on new, low-visibility domains.

By leveraging digitalmehmet.com’s established presence, our authors benefit from enhanced visibility for their work, reaching global audiences across scholarly, clinical, industry, and public sectors from the moment of publication.

This approach aligns with our mission to democratize and accelerate access to cutting-edge research in neuroscience and emerging technologies.

To support diversity, fairness, and rigorous peer review, JETN generally accepts one paper per author per issue. This ensures a broad representation of contributors and research topics in every issue.

If an author needs to submit more than one paper in a single issue—for instance, on distinctly different topics or as part of separate research collaborations—a processing and review fee of $150 per extra paper will apply. This fee is used exclusively to recognize and compensate our peer reviewers, with $50 allocated to each of the three independent reviewers who evaluate the additional manuscript.

  • Standard Policy: One paper per author per issue (no charge).
  • Multiple Submissions: $150 fee for each additional paper per author, per issue.
  • Reviewer Compensation: 100% of this fee is distributed to the reviewers as a recognition of their time and scholarly service.
  • Founding members of the Substack Mastery Boost program: are exempt from this additional processing and review fee, as they already provide financial support to the platform. Patreon tier 3 ,4, and 5 members are also exempted.

This policy helps maintain our open-access, no-fee standard for most submissions, while ensuring high-quality peer review and respecting the essential role of our reviewers. Fee waivers may be available in cases of demonstrated need; please contact the editorial office to discuss special circumstances.

All submissions—whether standard or additional—are subject to the same rigorous, double-blind peer review process, and editorial decisions remain independent of fee status.

8. Data Privacy and Sensitive Data Handling
JETN is committed to the responsible handling of all data submitted for publication, especially sensitive or clinical information. Authors must ensure that all research involving human participants, clinical data, or personal information complies with applicable data protection laws (such as GDPR, HIPAA, or local regulations). Personal identifiers should be removed or anonymized, and explicit consent obtained for any potentially identifiable information. All datasets submitted for publication must be handled and stored securely, with access limited to authorized editorial staff and peer reviewers only for the purposes of manuscript evaluation.

9. Policy on Open Peer Review and Reviewer Recognition (Future-Proof Statement)
While JETN currently operates a double-blind peer review process, we recognize the value of transparency and reviewer recognition. If open peer review or formal reviewer recognition programs (such as publishing reviewer names, reports, or issuing certificates/badges) are adopted in the future, all contributors will be notified and given the option to participate. We encourage constructive dialogue on peer review practices as part of our commitment to scholarly integrity.

10. Copyright for Third-Party Materials
Authors are responsible for securing the appropriate permissions or licenses to reuse any third-party materials (such as figures, tables, images, or datasets) included in their manuscript. All such materials must be clearly identified in the submission and accompanied by written proof of permission, where applicable. Failure to secure permissions may result in removal of the material or delay in publication.

11. Authorship and Eligibility Policy

JETN welcomes submissions from professionals, practitioners, educators, and early-career researchers who have expertise in their field, even if they do not hold advanced research degrees. We believe that valuable knowledge and innovative insights can come from diverse contributors—including those in industry, clinical practice, technology, education, and beyond.

To uphold the scholarly standards and integrity of our journal, we require that at least one author on each publication holds a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent research doctorate). This ensures that all published work benefits from advanced academic guidance, methodological rigor, and accountability.

If you are an emerging professional, practitioner, or student with important findings or perspectives to share, we encourage you to collaborate with a qualified research mentor or co-author. Collaboration with Other Journals and Communities: No Competition, Only Contribution

JETN is dedicated to advancing neuroscience, technology, and holistic wellbeing as part of a vibrant global ecosystem of academic publishing and scholarly practice. We recognize that the field of neuroscience is highly interdisciplinary, continually evolving, and best served by collaboration and the open exchange of ideas.

Positioning Within the Scholarly Landscape
JETN does not view other neuroscience or technology journals as competitors, but rather as fellow contributors to the collective progress of science and human understanding. Established journals—including JMIR Neurotechnology, Frontiers in Neuroscience, Neuroscience (Elsevier), Journal of Neuroscience Research, and others—play essential roles in advancing knowledge across diverse specializations and methodologies.

Complementary Focus and Shared Mission
While JETN emphasizes emerging technologies, holistic wellbeing, and innovative digital engagement, our work is intended to complement—not compete with—existing publications. Our model combines rigorous peer review, open-access distribution, and unique features such as author landing pages and an integrated digital content ecosystem. These innovations support wider visibility and accessibility for all research, serving both established scholars and new voices in the field.

Collaboration, Not Competition
JETN is committed to building bridges across disciplines, institutions, and communities. We support collaboration through:

  • Cross-referencing relevant research published in other journals
  • Inviting shared reviewers, guest editors, and cross-journal conversations
  • Participating in interdisciplinary conferences and open science initiatives
  • Welcoming dialogue with editors and scholars from across the publishing landscape

A Spirit of Openness
We believe that academic advancement is best achieved through openness, mutual respect, and shared purpose. JETN invites partnerships, co-publication opportunities, and knowledge exchange with journals, societies, and networks that share our values of scholarly integrity, transparency, and community impact.

In Summary
JETN joins the diverse, inclusive, multicultural, open, and dynamic ecosystem of neuroscience publishing, contributing a novel model and inclusive community to illuminate society. Our goal is to enhance, not displace, the collective body of knowledge and to serve as a catalyst for collaborative discovery, ethical innovation, and global wellbeing.
