Welcome to Diana

Hello Reading World I’m Diana. I write about my life as an aging expat on the rough and tumble island of Jamaica.

I’m a writer, trained in the Visual Arts, school leadership, and change.

I often write on Medium for multiple publications.

I like to write about aging. My article Get This…It Ain’t Going Away addresses the necessity of a positive mindset.  The importance of accepting the inevitable.

As a longtime warrior with the disease of Multiple Sclerosis that I manage with lifestyle, diet, and exercise my work Do You Want a

Simple Routine to Keep You Moving? gives readers a positive blueprint to manage pain.

I left the United States in 2018 searching for a place to live away from negative political chaos, closer to a clean food source, and a proximity to  water. I wrote about this exodus in my article You know You Have to Go.

Living in Jamaica to be closer to clean food and warm climate gave me the the experience of the historic Hurricane Beryl. My Hurricane Chronicles documented my survival.

On Substack I write a weekly newsletter Veranda Vibes. All about daily life in Jamaica complete with Jamaican recipes, gardening, and building a sustainable farm.

My newest Substack is Writing in Your Ear I’m reading a series of curated stories about my life as a marshmallow in a cup of hot chocolate from my Medium archive.

My background as an Art Administrator in Kansas City Public Schools gifted me training with Lucy Caulkins at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Her Balanced Literacy writing process guides me in growing my thoughts into articles.

When I’m not writing I like to paint large paintings of faceless

Jamaican women that I believe are the unsung backbone of this little island.

Here are two samples from my art projects.

Thank you for subscribing to me on MediumVeranda Vibes or

Writing in Your Ear. Blessings from Jamaica.
