The sun has set a while ago. A soft breeze permeates the air. In my lawn, two huge mango trees stand sentimel. Sitting below the mango trees can be quite soothing if it wasn’t for the mosquitoes.
A dengue outbreak has spread recently in some localities in Imphal. I am allergic to most mosquito repellents other than odomos, so I feel a little tense when those little creatures seek replenishment from my skin.
The air was humid at 83% today. I had a short chat with my friend at Guwahati, who told me that the humidity there can reach as high as 94%, which is above the danger level. I was worried in the morning when I realised that the humidity was also 83% here. I googled a little bit about the effect of high humidity on human beings. The results had me worried. A few hours later it rained, so that explains the humidity.
Manipur is quite pleasant in terms of weather. I remember a time when we did not need electric fans in summer. Global warming has brought changes, compounded by the massive deforestation that we see in the hills of Manipur.
Global warming is something we need to work on. The massive changes we are seeing today in the world’s weather do not auger well for the future of humanity.
What is the weather like in your place, dear Readers?
