As the year draws to a close, I hum a song my favorite cousin and I used to sing together: “And now, the end is near, and so I face the final curtain.” We’d belt it out dramatically, laughing at our amateur theatrics.
Today, the lyrics echo in my mind, not as an ending but as a reflection of the transitions this time of year brings. I’m thinking of her—of all the cherished moments and the gratitude that endings inspire.
