Life has a way of placing us in valleys we never thought we’d walk through. For one widow, those valleys came with waves of emotional battles. financial strain, mental exhaustion, and the weight of raising children alone.Through each storm her faith became her anchor-a steady light guiding her through her darkest nights.
But even the strongest light can start to flicker.
This widow’s story, is not about defeat but of her relentless perseverance. She has juggled bills with faith instead of fear and has poured hope into her children even when her own soul felt empty. Now, after years of holding the weight of survival and her sanity, she is finally stepping into the career she’s always dreamed of at a very mature age.
She turned fifty a few months ago, and looking better than ever, and more vibrant than I last saw her. And, for the first time in a very, very long time my dear friend, is once again excited. Yet, beneath that excitement lies a quiet struggle.
Her spiritual flame feels dimmer. The passion that she once had in trusting God seems weaker than before. She feels the temptation to keep everything on her shoulders, to muscle through without fully leaning on God or others.
Our faith is not just about surviving the storms of life-its about surrendering in the calm and stillness as well. It’s about letting go of our need to control, to fix, and to handle everything alone. What we (including me) seem to forget-is that no one is an island. It is about allowing God to not just be our safety net, but our very foundation of each step we take forward.
Once again He reminds us all of that powerful truth: That God never called us to carry every burden alone-and sometimes the bravest thing we can do for ourselves is to let others walk alongside us, to accept help from our loved ones and to admit that we are indeed tired. And, IT’S OKAY, TO NOT BE OKAY ALL THE TIME.
Scripture tells us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Cor.12:9). That being said: Her weakness is not her defeat- it is the very essence where God’s strength will shine the brightest.
As she steps boldly into this new chapter, she chooses to rekindle her spiritual light by releasing fear and embracing surrender and chooses to trust God’s timing over her own while allowing her community to lift her up when she feels weak, and to believe that this career, this dream that is finally coming to pass-is not just her victory-it is all part of God’s divine plan to prepare our hearts and renewing our strength. He reminds us that we do not have to walk our journey alone.
Her story is not yet finished but it is unfolding into something even greater than she could ever have imagined. So, to every widow, single parent, and weary soul carrying a heavy load: may your journey remind you that even when your light starts to flicker, God the Almighty has not forgotten you. H eis still busy writing your story and still making a way, still breathing new life into your weary spirit.
Keep on going, keep on trusting-and when your faith feels faint, allow God to carry the flame until it burns bright again.
