It was a beautiful, unplanned pregnancy! Yes, it really was a beautiful surprise when my husband and I just decided we will move to another country !!
We were like warriors. We were like, “we got this”.And we, especially, I was thrilled. As if I have, or my body has done it AGAIN !!
So my husband left for Dubai to find a job and I went to my Mom’s with our son. Majority of my pregnancy was uneventful. All the reports were normal and my baby was doing great. I was doing great.
But suddenly, during my third trimester, I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes which caused my amniotic fluid to go up till 95 percentile. Which, by the way, is crazy high!
The sociologist got worried and suggested that I shall be put on metformin to control the sugar levels.
I had a c section birth prior, but I was aiming for a normal delivery this time around. But when I was diagnosed with GB, my plans went down the drain. And my dreams were shattered, my friends.
But, as usual, I did not take it heart.
So, we signed for a scheduled c section.
20 days before my admission, I went to a family get-together. We had dinner at a restaurant. The meal was delicious. And your girl happened to have a sip of two or maybe a glass of cold, icy lemonade.
The next day, I had a mild, a very mild burning throat like sensation and a mild fever with it, which subsided in a day.
But, then the main villain made the entry. The Cough!!
This cough would come with so much impact that my belly would shake, and I would be scared to death. It came sputum, too.
I thought I had more than 2 weeks until my surgery, so I should just keep nebulizing, and I shall get better before it. But it did not happen. Due to my high-risk pregnancy, we couldn’t go beyond 38 weeks.
Now, the fun part, the day of admission, arrived. I went to the hospital with my own personal nebulizer and I was nebulizing all night in fear of what would happen if I cough like a maniac while I lay flat on the operating table.
Just before my c section, I requested to get nebulized one last time. And the team happily accepted. I was able to have a smooth delivery by God’s Will.
But as the effect of my last nebulizing session worn off. I started to cough pretty badly with those fresh stitches. Oh my! The agony I was in. I would put hand on my tummy and cough when it would come. But as the area was numb so couldn’t feel any pain thankfully, only the pressure.
As I live a bit holistic lifestyle so i chose not to go on any antibiotics or give strong cough syrups to my baby who was just going to come Earth side.
This was tough, but I survived, and my baby was healthy and happy . She is a thriving 13 months old, giggling and babbling as I type this article.
