Curator’s Note: ILLUMINATION is a new publication aimed at supporting ethical writers and enhancing reader engagement, currently boasting over 41,000 writers and 303,000 readers. Set to open for submissions on March 19, 2026, ILLUMINATION Local News and Documentary will provide a platform for authentic local stories often overlooked by mainstream media. Dear Subscribers,

For those who don’t know me, I am a volunteer editor and content curator of ILLUMINATION publications on Medium and Substack. I also own my publication, Health and Science.

As a retired person, one of my altruistic activities is to support creators. Helping writers and readers gives me pleasure and also keeps me mentally active.

Today, I will briefly introduce you to our new publication, ILLUMINATION Local News and Documentary, which will open for submissions on 19 March 2026 to celebrate the 6th anniversary of ILLUMINATION.

I decided to post the first story in this new publication to guide its contributors. I believe it will be a great resource for the community.

As a quick reminder, new writers, please check out the master onboarding pack and the submission guidelines for our publications before sending your first drafts. Volunteer editors are exhausted from addressing simple issues that can be easily prevented if writers pay a little attention.
