No matter what you have achieved all day, what matters is that you lived through it.
One can always reset their night and call it a day peacefully.
Here are some things I do to make my night fun, relaxing, and fulfilling so that I wake up the next day fresh and excited for the day.
- Put the Day Away: For that I do self-questioning. I ask myself questions like, โWhat went well today? How I can make better changes?
- Quick Tidy-up: What I do is, after my kids and husband go to bed, I go in the kitchen and load my dishwasher. That is the first thing I do. Then I clean the stove and countertops. After I am done with kitchen, i quickly tidy up our living room and dining table. The last rite is spraying air freshener. It does not even make the house feel fresh but also sets my mood for the night.
- Me time/ Self-care: This is also the time when I write my articles, study courses, and later freshen up for sleep like applying skincare( you can check the recipe of my holy grail DIY face serum here )
- Sleep on it: No matter how your day went or how much the worries for tomorrow bother you. Just sleep on it. Whatโs for tomorrow can be taken care of tomorrow.
- End the day with gratitude: Reflect on the good things that happened.
A nice cup of tea in the evening with my husband.
My son ate his food!!
A fun trip to the playground.
All these things bring me such joy and I will always be grateful for these precious moments.
These are the things that I do for my nightly reset. I do it with intention and commitment. I am doing it as I am writing this article at exactly 12:09 am. Yes its a bit late for us but this is the time I get to have my own time and I can lose tiny bit of sleep time for it. I write and learn with so much passion that I feel a sense of harmony now. I am happy I get the chance to do something for myself. And this is what makes me a less angry, reactive mom too.
Ever since I have started doing this routine, my whole energy has changed.I wake up happier and my mornings are calmer. In fact the whole housesโs.
