When balance is broken, even creation ceases to flow
Before the first dawn broke through the darkness…
Before time learned how to count the days…
the heart of the cosmos stretched its arms across the abyss.
There was no horizon.
Only infinity, silent like a thought not yet dreamed.
Upon its palms rested a single circle.
Perfect.
Alive.
It spun with the serenity of everything that had never needed to hurry.
On one side, the light was learning how to be born.
On the other side, the shadow was learning how to embrace.
Opposing forces.
Yet complementary.
Two movements of the same existence.
Like two wings guiding a single flight.
Like two notes composing the same song.
The two hands held the seed of creation.
Thus, the heart learned to pulse.
When the cosmos moved, it expanded.
The circle kept spinning.
And within its motion, life unfolded.
Very few noticed that the immense circle remained suspended by two tiny points.
So discreet that they seemed like mere details in the design.
Some considered them simple ornaments.
They did not understand that they were small pieces that anchored existence itself.
Each point rested within the opposite half, as if the primordial force had left within each one the memory of the other.
As long as they remained fixed in the hands of the cosmos… everything flowed.
For countless ages, no one imagined that anything could change.
Until a question was born.
Small.
Silent.
Almost innocent.
What if each half could turn on its own?
It was only a thought.
But thoughts also possess gravity.
The question crossed the circle.
It created a fissure in a crystal that had been perfect.
Nothing happened immediately.
And that was precisely what made everything more dangerous.
The circle’s motion lost its rhythm.
The first vibrations appeared.
The connections began to loosen.
Almost imperceptibly.
The hands of the cosmos remained steady.
Until the movement ceased to coincide.
The small points could no longer sustain the perfect stillness in the hands of the universe.
And then they came loose.
The point of light detached itself from the shadow.
The point of shadow detached itself from the light.
The circle tilted.
It did not fall.
It simply lost its axis.
And that alone was enough to interrupt the flow of creation.
The wind was the first to notice.
It passed through the trees… but they no longer knew how to respond.
There was no resistance.
Only the absence of sound.
The leaves remained still.
Not because there was no air.
But because they had forgotten the dance.
On the other side of the world… the sea felt adrift.
The tides forgot the path of the moon.
The waves continued to break.
But they no longer returned with their former impulse.
It was as if the ocean breathed only outward.
Never again able to inhale.
The light began to grow.
It grew so much… that it ceased to illuminate.
It became absolute whiteness.
The stars continued to exist.
But no one could find them.
Because even brilliance needs darkness in order to be born.
On the other side… the shadow also advanced.
It advanced so far… that it ceased to protect.
It covered the world in an intense blackness.
Without contours.
Everything darkened.
It was not night.
It was the absence of morning.
The rivers still flowed.
But they no longer knew where they were going.
The mountains remained standing.
But they had lost their dialogue with the valleys.
The flowers opened their petals.
Without realizing that the bees no longer came to visit them.
Then they understood.
The world remained whole.
But there was no longer any correspondence.
The contrast dissolved.
And without it, they ceased to see one another.
Yin moved toward an ever-deeper silence.
Yang moved toward an endless brightness.
There was no longer any meeting point between them.
Only paths drifting farther apart.
The farther they moved… the less of the world existed between them.
They stopped perceiving one another.
Distance was no longer measured in space.
It was measured in absence.
First, the seasons disappeared.
Later, seeds stopped breaking through the earth.
The birds forgot the paths of the sky.
Even time began repeating the same instant.
Nothing died.
Nothing was born.
Everything simply remained.
It was then that the heart of the cosmos realized everything was about to collapse.
The hands remained extended.
The great disk of creation stood motionless above the abyss.
For the first time… the universe knew fear.
Not the fear of ending.
But the fear of stillness.
Because it understood that there is something worse than disappearing.
It is ceasing to flow.
It was in that moment… when everything seemed to have forgotten its own movement… that a serpent of fire appeared on the horizon.
It did not burn.
It did not destroy.
It moved.
It rose in a spiral.
It touched the fissure.
The flame entered.
It traveled through the center.
It emerged at the top.
Then they remembered.
What had always existed.
Yin took a step.
Yang answered.
They united.
One filled the emptiness of the other.
They spun in perfect harmony.
Drawing in the sky the circle of life.
