Episode 2: A Personal Collection of Stories I Edited, Read, and Loved Across Illumination Integrated Publications This Week, Which You Might Find Valuable
Curator’s Note: S. M. Arif’s second edition of Arif’s Curated Reads highlights engaging stories published across Illumination Integrated Publications. The collection includes articles he edited and personally enjoyed, covering artificial intelligence, careers, productivity, mental health, technology, science, philosophy, family, culture, creativity, and personal growth. Arif aims to help deserving writers reach wider audiences while making the series a recurring feature, published weekly, fortnightly, or whenever time allows. He also recommends other editors’ collections and thanks contributors for their ideas and effort. The article concludes with Arif’s background as a writer, editor, hospitality professional, and founder of WorkScope, emphasizing his belief in storytelling’s power to connect and inspire. You can learn about the author’s background at the end of this story.
Introduction: Before We Begin
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the second edition of Arif’s Curated Reads. After sharing the first edition, I am delighted to bring you another collection of stories that caught my attention across Illumination Integrated Publications.
As an editor and writer, I come across many interesting stories every week, especially in ILLUMINATION publications. Some offer fresh perspectives, some make us pause and think, while others simply remind us of the joy of discovering a beautifully told story. I believe these stories deserve to reach more readers, and this collection is my little way of sharing that appreciation.
With this second edition, I would also like to make this series a more regular feature. While I hope to bring you new collections every week, I understand that writing, editing, and other professional commitments do not always leave the same amount of time. So, depending on my availability, you may see new editions weekly, fortnightly, or whenever I have enough time to put together a collection that I genuinely feel is worth sharing. My intention is to keep this series going and continue bringing the wonderful work of Illumination writers and editors to more readers.
For this edition, I have selected stories I had the pleasure of editing during the week, along with other stories I discovered and genuinely enjoyed reading.
I hope you enjoy exploring these selections, discover a few new favorites, and perhaps find a story that stays with you long after you have finished reading.
Happy reading!

I hope you enjoy discovering them as much as I enjoyed working on them.

About the Author
I am S. M. Arif, a writer, an editor of ILLUMINATION publications on Medium, travel and food enthusiast, hospitality professional, and independent author who believes that every person, place, and experience has a story worth telling.
My journey has taken me through different interests, experiences, and cultures, each adding a new layer to the way I see the world. I spent several years studying medicine in Kazakhstan before moving into the hospitality industry. Living in a different country exposed me to new cultures, unfamiliar traditions, and different ways of life. Those experiences taught me that sometimes the most meaningful lessons come from stepping outside what we know and seeing the world through someone else’s eyes.
Today, I write about travel, food, hospitality, business, careers, and human behaviour. I enjoy exploring the stories behind everyday experiences and sharing ideas, observations, and lessons that help us understand the world a little better.
I am also the founder of WorkScope, a publication dedicated to careers, workplaces, business, professional skills, and the ever-changing world of work. Alongside my writing, I work as an editor with Illumination Integrated Publications, where I enjoy discovering talented writers, supporting their work, and helping meaningful stories reach more readers.
Through my writing and editorial journey, I hope to preserve meaningful experiences, share useful knowledge, encourage curiosity, and create connections through stories. For me, writing is not simply about describing what we see. It is about discovering what those experiences mean and sharing that understanding with others.
