Interview with Paul @ Divine Light Path

Paul Is a Professional Pilot, Seasoned Technologist, Entrepreneur, Writer, and Emotional Healing Practitioner

Dear Subscribers,

Happy Weekend. In this episode of my conversations, I want to introduce you to a person who is skilled in multiple disciplines who can give us new perspectives in life.

I decided to conduct this interview with Paul | Divine Light Path as I found his work inspiring and his approach to life illuminating.

From my perspective, Paul is a true polymath whose expertise spans several fields. He approaches life holistically, nurturing body, mind, and spirit, while uplifting others with empathy and compassion to help them heal and thrive. I believe you will enjoy this conversation as much as I did.

Hi Paul, let’s start with your interesting background.

Hi Dr Yildiz, thank you for the opportunity. I have been following the interviews you conducted and I truly enjoyed them. I appreciate the kind invitation. Following your stories, I noticed that we have a lot in common in our approaches to life.

I’ve always asked my parents, “But why?” I wanted to know how and why things worked to include our minds and our souls.

I grew up fascinated by technology, aviation, the human body, and music. As a teenager in high school, I was writing advanced programs in C, running electronic bulletin board systems, and flight simulators on my home-built computers.

While in high school, I finished my Emergency Medical Technician training and continued with more advanced training. In high school, I would page through EKG books to see if I could figure out what cardiac rhythm someone had.

I jumped into biomedical engineering at Rutgers while juggling a bunch of other things that probably kept me busier than I should’ve been. I was volunteering with the local Rescue Squad, which was an incredible experience, and somehow also trying to wrap up my helicopter pilot’s license on weekends. To pay for everything — tuition, flight hours, you name it — I had this little side hustle building custom computers for people. Looking back, I’m not sure how I managed to keep everything balanced, but it was one of those times where everything just felt possible.

The week I graduated from college, I also finished my helicopter license. Within a few months, I found a full-time job in the information technology field. At the same time, I kept flying with friends on the weekend, building my helicopter time. I flew a small helicopter from the east coast to the west coast countless times in order to build my flight hours — seeing the country from 700 feet above the ground is breathtaking — it never got old.

During my high school and college years, I also found myself composing quite a bit of music and writing poetry; I found both came very naturally to me. I often reveled at the end-product — but only the next day when it looked fresh to me and I hadn’t even recalled writing it. While I was writing, I never really appreciated what came out till I gave my mind a few hours’ break.

During my early years in IT, I started doing consulting work, helping companies that were about to go public or designing global initiatives for large companies. I was thrown into the fire multiple times to learn my subject matter, give a presentation, install and support, document, and then go to the next project. It was at that point that I started to understand my capabilities to learn, adapt, and excel.

Through the 90s and early 2000s, I was also a part-time helicopter instructor on the weekends — I continued to build my flight time. Eventually, I flew for several news stations in NYC, and was almost involved in the Chopper 4 crash (I was flying the WB11 helicopter that day instead).

Eventually, I had this idea to start a medevac program with a local hospital. I pitched it to my boss, got him excited about the concept, and we took it to the hospital administration. A year later, I found myself as Atlantic Health’s first medevac helicopter pilot in New Jersey. But the role ended up being much more than just flying. I was genuinely passionate about patient outcomes, so I developed software that we presented to the state’s Department of Health. That presentation helped push through a policy change requiring the closest available helicopter to respond to each call, rather than the old system. Seeing that shift happen — knowing that one idea could potentially impact tens of thousands of patients over the years — that was a real turning point for me. It made me realize that if you believe in something, no matter how slim the odds, you can and will make it happen.

As a medevac pilot, I had the opportunity to run my IT business. I had clients I managed while waiting for a flight. It was the ultimate in double-dipping. I had dreamed about this type of work for years, and then there I was.

By 2014, I decided it was time to test other waters. My friend, who was flying for an ultra-wealthy individual, recruited me, and I started flying a corporate helicopter, a Sikorsky S-76. One year later, I got laid off from that company because they stopped using the helicopter as much. I didn’t let that get me down. I set my sights on my original goal, which was to fly Gulfstream Jets.

Within 1 month, I completed my Gulfstream G5 type rating and was certified to fly a Gulfstream G550 Jet (friends helping me out), and got rehired by the same company. They trained me in a new Gulfstream, the G650, and I flew all over the world.

In 2019, I left there and became a corporate pilot for a Fortune 100 company. I stayed there for over 6 years, when something told me it was time to go. Now, a married man, my in-laws invited me to a healing ceremony at a church they were members of in Southern Brazil. I laid down for 24 hours in a ceremony. When I left, my entire life had transformed. The walls I’d built around emotional pain came down, and I understood for the first time that healing others was my true calling. I’m a few months out from that, and I’m still integrating everything, but that’s a synopsis of where I have come from.

I’m currently running two tech startups, closesthotel.com and closestairport.com, flying full-time, writing, helping people heal using Emotion Code and Body Code, and deeply involved in my spiritual practices.

What do health and well-being mean to you?

Health and well-being revolve around a body, mind, and spirit that are all aligned. If any are ignored, there is a high likelihood that the others will suffer.

There’s a lot to unpack here. Health is such a multifaceted topic. The interconnection between emotional, spiritual, and physical health is undeniable. I have dived deep into multiple areas of health to include many of the organs, nutrition, methylation pathways, musculoskeletal systems, and more.

As my parents have been getting older, I have managed their care and all the conditions they have faced. I, too, have had my share of issues through the years that doctors quite often could not figure out.

It’s at that point that I realized the mind-body connection as a common culprit in many ailments. Dr John Sarno wrote a book, “The Divided Mind”, which outlined the concept of “Tension Myositis Syndrome.” Dr Wayne Dyer famously spoke about one of Sarno’s other books, “Healing Back Pain.” The mind creates physical symptoms to mask emotional pain and this is the direction my life started leading me.

A few years ago, I was at a resort, and someone asked for volunteers to come up for energy healing. I raised my hand as Frank Elaridi cleared some things from both my father and me (my father was at home). The next day, my father said he felt amazing. My minor ailment was also gone. I did quite a few more sessions with other practitioners and was amazed at how they were clearing trapped emotions from me. After some of the sessions, I felt exhausted — sometimes almost like I had the flu.

Fast forward a year or two later, and my mother became sick with a mystery illness. It was at that time that I decided to become an Emotion Code and Body Code practitioner. I did quite a few sessions on my mother, used my intuition, and her health started coming back. She still has some issues, but she’s dramatically better than she was before. Those sessions allowed me to test certain modalities against her symptoms and illness with my newfound healing practice.

What are your hobbies, or what excites or entertains you?

Writing music is right up there. It’s amazing when a piece, with the words, comes to you simultaneously, almost like it was pre-written for you.

Writing software and designing things that many find useful is also something I really enjoy. Putting together the entire solution to include the servers, communications, software, user interface, and marketing is something that really keeps me up late at night.

As an Emotion Code and Body Code practitioner, I thoroughly enjoy helping people heal. It almost feels like cheating when I see the results that just one or two sessions do. I’ve worked with people with everything from chronic pain to anxiety and depression. It never ceases to amaze me the power of the human mind, spirit, and our connection to the divine.

Traveling and flying my own plane all over is also something we enjoy as a family. We find ourselves up and down the East Coast from Charleston up to Quebec City, Canada. It’s so fulfilling to take weekend trips with friends at a moment’s notice.

Finally, I love meditation. I try to meditate daily for at least 30–40 minutes, sometimes as long as an hour. This is where I feel connected to the divine and also release all that doesn’t serve me. Part of this practice is a true letting go and letting whatever happens.

I spent my life flying people at 45,000 feet, running two businesses, and managing multiple teams. Letting go is priceless and reveals the purest truths — but the difference is we don’t pull them in — they find their way to us when we let go.

What are the top three books that affected your life?

Wayne Dyer: Applying the 10 Secrets to Success and Inner Peace — This is where it all started. Wayne Dyer helped transform my life at an early age. I’m not sure I even comprehended most of it when I first read it, but enough stuck that helped me to understand that we are spiritual beings leading a human existence. I must have re-read that book 4–5 times by now.

Robert Goulston’s book, Just Listen. Far too many of us not only could be better listeners, but could also convey to the person or people we are communicating with that we’re actually listening and comprehending what they’re saying. It’s an art and a skill to genuinely show an interest in the viewpoints and perspectives others have. If we get caught in our own perspectives and don’t venture out beyond the front door, our human relationships will suffer, and we will not understand people nearly as well. It’s important that the other person understands that you value them, their time, and perspective, in the most genuine way possible.

Michael Brown, The Presence Process. This book changes lives. It allows you to see that we reflect unintegrated emotions, mostly from childhood, and project them onto others. It feels like some Carl Jung, intertwined with Buddhism and Christianity, or a Course in Miracles. It’s a transformative process that goes deep into your psyche and allows you to understand that felt-perception, the bodily reaction to emotions and memories, are just that — sensations in our body. When we stop attaching stories and narratives to these emotions and just simply feel, the emotions pass. This 10-week course is powerful and has transformed countless lives, including my own.

Why do you write on Medium?

We are all in this together. We are all one. Sharing our collective experiences and perspectives helps us to grow in ways we would have otherwise potentially stagnated.

From my teenage years and into my 20s and 30s, I enjoyed service to others as a volunteer emergency medical technician and then later on as a helicopter medevac pilot. I felt that being of service to others helped me lead a more purpose-filled life.

Just as I have read articles on Medium that gave me “a-ha!” moments, I, too, hope to be able to share a perspective that someone may not have considered. It’s this collective sharing that allows us as a family, as a union, to grow, flourish, and progress, and to grasp our true origins and purpose.

Do you write on other platforms like Substack? If so, how do you find them?

Not yet, but I’m very close to starting. Right now, I share some of my work on https://www.dl.org — also a place you can book an Emotion Code / Body Code session with me.

What are your values as a writer?

Authenticity is paramount. Writing from truth and not desire. People want to hear the real and the raw. They want to experience, and perhaps live vicariously or experientially through you. You don’t necessarily have to write about novel content, but when they spot authenticity and sincerity, the messaging resonates so much more.

The reader wants to be able to align with what you’re writing and make sense of it. If they want a fairytale reality where everything is perfect, there are outlets for that as well. Medium and authentic writing touches the heart and soul. It has the potential to unlock things stuck or buried deep inside, or just touch something in the soul that has been distant for a while.

I also value breaking down complex ideas into something people can actually use — insights that create real change, not just interesting concepts. I write by stepping into the reader’s shoes, feeling their questions and struggles, and meeting them where they are.

Here’s the thing: we’re all on the same team, even if we wear different uniforms and play in different stadiums. Our bodies may look separate, but I see it every day in my work, we’re connected in ways that can’t be broken. And our best moments are they’re never about personal wins. They’re about reaching down and pulling someone else up.
