Meet Shreyas Naphad from His Own Words

Dear Subscribers and Visitors

Welcome to another episode of my interviews with professionals and leaders in their field. In today’s episode, I invited Shreyas Naphad to introduce himself. I met him on LinkedIn and invited him to join my publications because his educational and engaging stories, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning, captivated me. Although Shreyas joined Medium in 2025, he has already gained over 10,000 followers thanks to his captivating, informative, well-researched, and high-quality stories. I see him as a role model technologist and storyteller who can educate and inspire you. He looks young, but he acts very mature. I decided to publish this story on Technology Hits as a source of inspiration for technology writers and readers.

Hi Shreyas, Welcome. Please tell us a bit about your background.

Hi Dr Yildiz, thank you for the kind invitation and the opportunity to introduce myself. Yes, I’d be happy to provide some info about my background.

I grew up with computers, and as I love them, I completed my master’s in Computer Science in 2025. I specialized in artificial intelligence engineering and worked as an AI engineer at a couple of startups, where I gained valuable experience. This is the professional side.

But beyond technology, I love storytelling, so I started sharing my stories online in 2022 and have been writing almost every day since. My first experience was with GeeksforGeeks, which is a computer science platform. I was fortunate to get an internship from GeeksforGeeks as a technical writer.

Since I also enjoy writing on multiple topics, I decided to be a freelance writer and joined Medium as a storyteller. Then I found your publications through our collaboration on LinkedIn.

Why did you choose your tech and content development profession?

My professional approach has been at the intersection of technology research, AI engineering, and storytelling. But my passion and interest in storytelling and content development on multiple topics have been comparatively stronger. It changed my approach in synergistic ways.

Since my childhood, I’ve always enjoyed writing. I love the aspect of researching a topic, understanding it first, and then writing about it in my own voice so that people find it engaging to read and benefit from my research. I feel the amazing thing about content writing as a profession is that there is a lot of creativity involved, and that’s what excites me.

I made writing part of my profession. There are different ways in which I can write, keep people engaged, and present an idea. My goal has always been to write an article that stops the user from scrolling, makes them want to read it, and keeps them engaged.

I get to write my own thoughts in a way that is also helpful to people, because many of my articles are on self-improvement and in the tech niche.

Basically, I love writing, and it helps people at the same time. It’s great to have a profession where something that excites me and brings me joy also helps other people. And the more I write, the better I become. So, it’s that kind of profession that I really enjoy and want to sustain.

What do health and well-being mean to you?

Health is definitely an important aspect. I mean, I cannot speak highly enough about it. I do focus a lot on my health and well-being.

I make sure to go for a run every morning. In the evening, I have my workout session, and I am also pretty focused on my diet. So, I feel that health and well-being are important in every area of life because they also act as catalysts for improving your performance.

It’s not something that only an athlete needs to focus on. In any profession, if you want to stay focused and improve your performance, you need to have good health and well-being.

I feel it’s very important for everyone to focus on it because having good health will always help you in the long run, and it’s something you cannot play around with.

What are your hobbies, or what excites or entertains you?

I absolutely love sports. I come from India, where cricket is very popular, so I love it. I also love football. I enjoy both watching and playing sports, and I believe sports have taught me a lot in every aspect of my life.

I also love watching movies. I’m a huge fan of Hollywood movies, and I really enjoy them.

I love reading books, both fiction and non-fiction. I read fiction for creativity and non-fiction for self-improvement. I feel excited about reading because there is so much to learn. Reading is fun and helps me become better than I was yesterday by expanding my knowledge.

What are the top three books that have affected your life?

If I had to choose three books that have affected my life, the first one I would highly recommend to anyone is The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. It is an absolutely amazing book, and it has changed a lot for me because it helped me understand what visualization and manifestation can do and how they can help you achieve your goals and desired results.

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind discusses how you can subconsciously think about something and work toward making it a reality. That has to be one of my favorite books.

The second book would be Atomic Habits. It helped me realize the importance of small, consistent improvements and how tiny habits, when repeated over time, can lead to significant changes. I really liked the idea that becoming better is about making small improvements every day.

The third book would be The Storytelling Method by Philipp Humm. As a writer, I found it really interesting because storytelling is such an important part of making any content engaging. I have learned a lot from it about how to tell a good story and keep a conversation interesting.

Since I focus a lot on keeping readers engaged, I found the concepts useful.

Why do you write on Medium?

I believe Medium is an amazing platform for writing and publishing your content, as well as building an audience around it.

Back in May 2025, I already knew about Medium, and I thought it was a great place to start. I felt it would not only help me write, but also allow me to showcase my work to anyone who wanted to read my content.

I also loved the idea of publishing because it allows your articles to reach a larger audience. As I gradually began writing, I started building an audience and receiving regular comments from many people about how much they enjoyed my writing. I also got connected with some amazing individuals through Medium.

So, I feel Medium is a really great place to write and publish articles. You get discovered as a writer, and you can consistently publish your articles by submitting them to publications. I’ve always found it to be a great place to share your thoughts with the world.

Do you write on other platforms like Substack? If so, how do you find them?

No, I haven’t written on any other platform lately. I used to write on GeeksforGeeks, which was a really nice platform, but I mainly wrote technical articles there. It allowed me to research technical topics, learn new things, and publish articles.

I’m also very keen to start writing on Substack, and I’ll probably do that by next week. I’m currently focused on learning the ins and outs of Substack before I begin, as I prefer to understand the platform first.

At the same time, my focus on writing articles on Medium will stay as it is.

What are your values as a writer?

My values as a writer have always been to help my audience as much as I can, provide original content, and ensure that after reading my article, each and every one of my readers learns something new. I want them to have more knowledge than before reading the article and be able to confidently talk about the topic they read about.

Because as much as I enjoy writing, I also feel it is very important to me that every minute my audience spends reading is well spent. I have always been someone who prioritizes providing maximum value to my readers.

I have also always made sure to deliver high-quality content that continues to improve. Whatever I learn, I try to put as much knowledge as I can into my articles, making sure the reader not only enjoys the article but also gains immense value from it and becomes a better version of themselves after reading it.

How do you connect with your readers?

I believe it is very important to connect with readers and make sure I read every comment they leave. I try to reply to as many comments as I can and understand what my readers highlight, what they like, and what they would like to see more of in my articles. I then make sure that I do the needful.

I feel that being connected with the audience is one of the most important parts of writing because I am writing for them.

I really love the DMs I get on LinkedIn because many of my readers also text me there, telling me what they liked about one of my articles and what they would like to see next. So, I make sure I understand what my audience wants from me.

I have also started adding a CTA at the bottom of my articles, encouraging my audience to share their thoughts on the article and tell me what they would like to see next.

So, yeah, that is how I keep myself connected with my audience and understand what they want to read next.

Why did you join ILLUMINATION, and how do you find it so far?

I had always heard about the ILLUMINATION publication, and I saw that it has more than 300K followers and is one of the most popular publications on Medium. I definitely wanted to contribute to it because of its large following and the genuine readers who are connected to the publication.

One thing that I absolutely loved about ILLUMINATION is the amount of hard work the editors put in. Every time I submit an article, it gets published within a few hours, and I’m really glad about that.

It is also a very diverse publication, accepting a wide range of articles and niches. That makes it even more interesting because I get to read many amazing articles beyond my tech niche. It’s always great to see what is going on in other areas and understand new things.

I’ve learned a lot from this publication as a reader, too. I get to read so many articles regularly, and the editors are doing a magnificent job publishing so many day in and day out.

So, it’s a great publication to be a part of, and I’m really glad that I’m able to submit my stories and get my articles published in the publication.

Who are some writers you follow on Medium or other platforms?

Yeah, I love reading other people’s articles here on Medium. There’s a lot one can learn from reading other writers. A few of my favorite writers include you, Dr. Mehmet Yildiz. I absolutely love your writings on technology, science, and health.

I also love the stories of Rishita Sharma💗. The content that she writes on Pen with Paper or Quirky Rants is really awesome and pretty entertaining. She shares some amazing experiences, so it’s really enjoyable to read her work.

Another one is Sinem Günel. There’s a lot to learn from her. She is an amazing content writer, and I’ve been following her lately. She also writes on Substack, but yeah, she is another writer whose work I look forward to reading.

In terms of pure tech, Marina Wyss and Tina Sharma also write some amazing, insightful articles. I really enjoy reading their work.

Apart from ILLUMINATION, I also enjoy reading other publications, such as Pen with Paper and Towards AI. Reading other writers keeps me growing. It helps me learn new things and improves my understanding of writing.

What are your top five stories that you want to share with your audience and why?

My five favorite stories, which might appeal to a broad audience, are these.

The first one would definitely be If You Understand These 5 AI Terms, You’re Ahead of 90% of People. It is one of the most viral tech articles I have written this year. It has more than 22K claps and more than 5,000 fans, making it one of the most popular articles I have written.

I feel that everybody should know these five terms as we enter, or are already living in, the era of AI. And even if you’re a non-tech person, there is nothing to worry about because with every tech article I write, I consider that a non-tech person might end up reading it. So, it is for both tech and non-tech audiences. Anyone who is interested in AI should definitely read those five terms.

Along with that, I would like everyone to read a self-improvement article, The Secret to Getting Opportunities You Never Applied For. It’s about how little things can matter a lot, and how consistent, small actions that you can do but often overlook can end up opening doors to opportunities you never even applied for.

It is like a secret sauce for getting opportunities by doing small things regularly. These things are very easy to do, but we often overlook or underrate them.

Another self-improvement article would be If You Have These 2 Skills, You’re Ahead of Most. These two skills have always helped me and many people I know. The chances of success are much higher if you develop these two skills, so I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Another tech article: What Is an API? A Simple Guide for Beginners (With Real Examples). Every application we use is supported by APIs, so this is a very beginner-friendly article I wrote. It gives you a better understanding of how things actually work behind the scenes, how apps fetch data in real time, and how they execute tasks so quickly. So, definitely check it out.

And finally, the fifth article I would like you guys to read is I Published 250 Articles on Medium, and This Is How It All Started. It is about my personal journey. How I started writing on Medium, what I have achieved, and the twists and turns along the way. It’s kind of a ride that shows how I started with just one article and how things progressed from there.

It is more about my personal experience, and anyone who wants to write on Medium or wants to understand what goes on in a content writer’s life should definitely read it.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy each of the articles I’ve mentioned. A lot of people have enjoyed them and shared their thoughts in the comments, so I would definitely recommend checking out these five.

What are the success factors for you as a writer?

For me, success as a writer would mean writing articles that are genuinely useful to my audience, connecting with them, and helping them feel they can resonate with what I write. This is something that I always look forward to.

Success would also mean people genuinely enjoying my articles enough to keep coming back to read them. I want to build an audience around my writing so that whenever I publish an article, people come to read it because they know they will get a high-quality piece.

So, for me, that is the definition of success. I want to attract a large audience and provide value to every reader of my article.

What do you recommend to the new writers?

I would recommend that new writers focus on the process and not the outcome.

When you’re a beginner as a writer, your first few months might be dry. You might not get the desired results in your initial months, and there will be days when you lose motivation. But what’s important is to do what excites you, and that is to write.

Pick your favorite niche, explore, read other people’s articles, network with other people, improve yourself, keep learning, and write as much as you can whenever you get the time.

And I’m sure every failed article is one step closer to your first masterpiece.

What are your plans as a writer or as a professional?

I want to continue improving my content writing skills. I aim to be one of the best in this field, and I am really excited every day to work, explore, research, and write pieces that are actually helpful to the audience.

Some of my writing inspires a few people, and that is what brings me joy. So, at the moment, it’s more about improving myself, leveling up, and continuing to work hard. I enjoy the grind.

I have picked up two niches: technology and self-improvement. I want to keep exploring and researching these areas, network with some amazing people, and keep writing. That is what I’m more focused on because I genuinely enjoy it.

Thank you Dr Yildiz for this opportunity to introduce myself. I admire what you do with your work and publications across multiple platforms, including a free Slack workspace; I absolutely love your writing and reading community, and I am proud to be part of it. Best wishes!
