I invite you to explore her fascinating stories on eclectic topics, her fiction books, and follow her profiles at the end of this story.

Hi Rosana, letโ€™s start with a bit about your background.

Hi Dr. Mehmet, thank you for inviting me to your interview episode. I’ve read some of your episodes in this series and enjoyed them very much, which helped me discover new writers I didnโ€™t know. This is a great honor for me. Iโ€™d be glad to share a few highlights from my background.

I was born and raised in a small town in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, but even as a child, I felt the world was far bigger than what I could reach. To me, the world did not end at my front gate. I was an intense, restless child with a deep longing for freedom. I have always loved reading and writing. Books allowed me to discover other worlds, and writing gave me room to express my thoughts and let my imagination soar.

Over the years, I built a professional career impacted by organization, leadership, and a constant desire to learn. I believe these three qualities are essential to personal growth: organization helps us manage our lives, leadership teaches us to lead ourselves, and the desire to learn keeps us growing and evolving.

For the past fifteen years, I have worked in Quality Management at a healthcare products company. Although I am officially retired, I continue to work in the field.

Family has always been central to my life. I became a mother at a very young age. My son lost his father when he was still young, and I raised him largely on my own. Raising him was one of my main priorities for many years. When he moved to England, I realized it was time to return to something I had always loved: writing.

I have never been comfortable putting myself in the spotlight, but there comes a time when we feel the need to share our thoughts and discoveries with others. And to do that, we must open the door and step out into the world.

That was when I realized it was time to set free everything I had kept hidden within me: the gods of Olympus, the sages of antiquity, the artists, and so many other figures and ideas that still have much to tell us.

My interests include mythology, philosophy, spirituality, ancestral narratives, the unknown, and nature. I am drawn to them because I find questions within them that remain alive and relevant, even after centuries have passed.

I feel something stirring within me, something I need to express through writing. I enjoy revisiting the past, finding lessons that remain relevant today, and sparking reflections that broaden our understanding of life and ourselves. All of this brings me happiness.

Why did you choose your profession?

Frankly, I didnโ€™t choose it, and I feel like it chose me. I began studying Quality Management because the company I already worked for started the certification process.

My first experience in the field was assisting a professional hired to implement quality management processes. As I gained experience and deepened my knowledge, I discovered how much I enjoyed the work and how well it suited me. I find organization, controls, and developing procedures deeply fulfilling. Today, I am responsible for Quality Management at the company.

Working with people, conducting training sessions, and pursuing continuous improvement are also important sources of motivation for me. I enjoy sharing what I have learned and contributing to other peopleโ€™s professional development.

I feel especially happy when I see young people beginning their careers with a sparkle in their eyes and am given the opportunity to guide them. I feel proud when I see that people I have helped train have become excellent professionals. Knowing that I have contributed to their growth is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.

What do health and well-being mean to you?

For me, feeling well is the starting point for taking care of my health. I believe harmony should always come first: in the workplace, within the family, and in our relationships with everyone around us.

Keeping the body healthy is part of this balance. I usually prepare my own vegetarian meals because I believe the quality of the food we eat is essential. I exercise at the gym and sleep about six hours a night. I avoid medication and prefer natural alternatives whenever possible.

I believe our well-being involves much more than the physical body. That is why I also take care of my energetic balance through therapeutic radiesthesia, working with the chakras and the aura whenever I feel the need. I seek to understand myself better so that I can recognize when something is out of balance and pay attention to what needs care.

For me, caring for the mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions is the foundation of being at peace with myself and the world around me. My connection with spirituality is essential. Finally, my home is my sacred refuge. It is where I find the silence I need to reconnect with myself.

What are your hobbies, or what excites or entertains you?

I greatly enjoy reading, writing, going to the movies, and attending the theater. I love traveling, discovering different cultures, and, whenever possible, spending time with my family. I also love cooking, being close to nature, and caring for plants.

I have a deep passion for knowledge. Studying philosophy, exploring different aspects of spirituality, investigating paranormal phenomena, and learning about the discoveries and questions raised by quantum physics all feed my curiosity and lead me to reflect on life, existence, and everything we have yet to fully understand.

What are the top three books that have affected your life?

I read many books, but among them the following three deeply impacted me. I will explain briefly.

The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibranโ€Šโ€”โ€ŠI read this book when I was fifteen, and I feel that it awakened in me a deep curiosity about human existence. To this day, it remains my bedside companion. Its words continue to illuminate my perspective and broaden how I see the world, teaching me that beauty lies in how we perceive it.

The Self-Taught Philosopher, by Ibn Tufaylโ€Šโ€”โ€ŠReading this book helped me understand the restlessness I have always felt in the face of lifeโ€™s mysteries and explore the idea that we are much more than a physical body. It is a work that resonates with my own quest to understand what exists beyond what we can see and touch.

Memoirs of the Second World War, by Winston Churchillโ€Šโ€”โ€ŠThis work made me realize how far human beings can drift from their own humanity when they forget that they are part of a greater whole. It strengthened my conviction that we need to recognize the human cost of every war, because even when there are winners, no victory can ever repair the losses.

Now, Letโ€™s talk about your writing. Why do you write on Medium?

I write on Medium because I wanted to reach readers without first building an established audience. Having a platform where I can publish my work without relying on marketing skills allows me to focus on writing rather than self-promotion.

Here, I found a sense of connection in a community where ideas, experiences, and reflections bring people together. It is a space where articles can find their readers and be appreciated for their own merits. Through this community, I have discovered different ways of thinking and feeling. Despite geographical and cultural boundaries, I have come to realize that feelings know no distance.

I also enjoy discovering new authors, seeing the world through different perspectives, and taking part in exchanges that continue long after a text has been read. Here, I feel at home. I can be myself, explore the questions that occupy my mind, and give life to the stories I carry within me.

On Medium, I find genuine engagement that goes beyond numbers, something no algorithm can fully measure. The platform has become a bridge between my soul and my readers. I believe somewhere, someone may be waiting to find exactly what I have written. Knowing my words might reach that person gives me a greater sense of responsibility and makes this experience even more meaningful.

Perhaps it is difficult to put into words what Medium and the community of brilliant minds I have found here mean to me. Although I canโ€™t join the partner program because it is unavailable in my country, I am deeply grateful to be part of a space where I no longer feel alone.

Do you write on other platforms like Substack? If so, how do you find them?

I donโ€™t write on Substack, but my work appears in several spaces, each with special meaning for me.

On WordPress, I publish in Portuguese, my native language, where my thoughts and feelings express themselves most naturally and spontaneously.

On The Digitalmehmet Content Ecosystem, I have started my literary magazine. It is part of a broader network of content and links that creates opportunities to connect with new readers. Thank you and your community for giving me the opportunity to reach a new audience.

On LinkedIn, I write stories inspired by real-life experiences and situations from the corporate world. I believe simple examples can convey profound messages and prompt reflection that changes how we view our attitudes and behavior. I explore themes such as character, justice, leadership, and interpersonal relationships, encouraging greater awareness of the role each of us plays in our professional and personal interactions.

At ILLUMINATION, I find the freedom to explore different subjects and forms of expression while engaging with a diverse readership. Being part of an international community also allows me to encounter new perspectives and learn more about the world. I believe everything is interconnected, and that exposure to different ideas and experiences broadens our understanding of life and the world around us.

On Amazon, I have published two books that represent very different worlds within my writing.

Cรฉu Pantaneiro is a novel set in the Pantanal wetlands of Mato Grosso do Sul, the Brazilian state where my roots lie. The wild beauty of nature plays an important role in the story, revealing the richness of one of the worldโ€™s most fascinating ecosystems and bringing to life the setting in which the narrative unfolds.

Flamboyant is a novel inspired by Greco-Roman mythology. In it, I explore a world where the boundaries between mortals and the divine can dissolve. The story invites readers to rediscover the gods of Olympus and reflect on the mysteries that shape human existence.

In each of these spaces, I find not only different ways to share my work but also opportunities to reach readers with diverse interests and perspectives. After all, a story may begin as a seed in an author’s imagination, but when it reaches a readerโ€™s soul, it can take root and bring new worlds to life.

What are your values as a writer?

My values as a writer are rooted in freedom of thought, respect for each reader, and awareness of the responsibility I carry when I share my words.

I donโ€™t write to offer ready-made ideas or dictate how anyone should think. I seek to inspire reflection, encourage self-discovery, and make room for different interpretations. I believe that two people can look at the same thing and see different realities because each brings their own experiences, perceptions, and ways of understanding the world. Respecting that individuality is essential to me.

I am aware that words can touch people in ways we cannot always anticipate. One of the things that brings me the greatest joy is realizing that something I have written has helped someone discover possibilities they had not been able to see before.

I strive to pour my soul into my writing, allowing my creativity to flow freely and abundantly, without constraints. I want my stories to bring joy and light, even when they arise from inner questions or lead us to difficult issues.

If, after finishing one of my pieces, someone feels moved to look within themselves or question their own certainties, I will feel that my words have fulfilled their purpose.

How do you connect with your readers?

I try to put genuine feeling into everything I write because I believe that’s what lets me connect with my readers, wherever they may be.

A reader in Asia may feel my words as deeply as someone in the Americas, even when our cultures, experiences, and realities are different. Love, hatred, cold, warmth, joy, and pain are all part of the human experience, regardless of where we are.

For me, the deepest connection happens through the soul. Sometimes, I read beautifully written pieces that still feel cold to me, as though they lack a sense of presence. I believe we can infuse our words with our warmth and leave a piece of our soul in everything we write, allowing something of us to blossom in those who read our work.

Why did you join ILLUMINATION, and how do you find it so far?

I joined ILLUMINATION because I wanted to be part of a large community of writers. What I hadnโ€™t expected was that, even in such a vast space, I would feel such a strong sense of closeness.

I like to imagine ILLUMINATION as an organized home with many rooms, each offering different possibilities. There is room to explore literature, philosophy, and spirituality; immerse myself in fiction; share experiences; and discover carefully selected texts, including book chapters. It also offers opportunities to explore topics such as technology, innovation, and science, and to discover ideas that may shape the future. For a curious writer, it is like finding a library without doors, where every book opens new horizons and awakens the desire to discover, experiment, and create.

The editors remind me of guardians who welcome submissions with attention, care, and kindness, helping writers find their own paths. As I got to know this community better, I also began to sense its founderโ€™s presence. Something about how ILLUMINATION has been built gives me a sense of solidity that goes beyond its structure and processes. It is something I can feel but cannot yet put into words.

I believe this solidity comes from something you canโ€™t buy or measure: dedication, human involvement, and a vision brought to life through the work of many people. It is like a light that does not need to announce itself, because its presence is revealed through what it illuminates.

So far, this experience has given me the opportunity to discover new people, encounter different perspectives, learn, and broaden my horizons as a writer. More than just a place to publish, ILLUMINATION has become a place where I can explore my creativity and feel welcomed.

Who are some writers you follow on Medium or other platforms?

I follow several writers on Medium, and you are one of them. I also admire Hamid Akhtar, Muhammad Hashir, Sofia K, Scufieldidiakhoa, and many others whose work I read daily. Each of them, in their own way, introduces me to new perspectives and inspires reflection.

I also seek knowledge on YouTube, where I follow philosophers, thinkers, and teachers who explore topics such as spirituality and quantum physics. I also enjoy documentaries about fascinating facts and historical mysteries.

I enjoy learning about and exploring schools of thought such as Stoicism. I am also fascinated by mythological narratives and the works of great authors from the past, which continue to offer us different perspectives on human nature. In this world of discovery, the work of Carl Jung also sparks my interest.

I try to make the most of my time by listening to lectures while doing other activities. For me, learning keeps me discovering the world, questioning what I think I know, and keeping alive the curiosity that fuels my writing.

What are your top five stories that you want to share with your audience and why?

My writing moves between humor, philosophy, psychology, mythology, and personal experiences. I also find inspiration in observing human behavior and relationships in corporate environments. I explore different aspects of life, transforming experiences, questions, and ideas into narratives that invite readers to look beyond what seems obvious.

I chose these five works because each offers a different way to connect with my readers.

The Slipper Philosopher

In this story, a designer shoe, an athletic sneaker, and an old flip-flop discuss their worth and experiences. Beneath the humor lies a reflection on appearances and the difference between knowing the image someone presents to the world and knowing the person behind it. I believe a simple story can convey a profound message. Even readers who have never studied philosophy can enjoy the narrative and recognize something of their own lives in it. I find it particularly interesting to invite readers to think without initially realizing that they are engaging with a philosophical reflection.

The Stage of the Psyche

I transformed concepts from Carl Gustav Jungโ€™s analytical psychology into a theatrical play in which consciousness, the unconscious, synchronicity, and the process of individuation take shape through characters and symbolic events. This story offers different levels of reading. Those familiar with Jung can explore its conceptual layers, while readers unfamiliar with his work can simply follow an intriguing narrative.

When the Shadows Can No Longer Deceive

Inspired by Platoโ€™s Allegory of the Cave, this narrative follows Sophia, a young woman who discovers that the world is far greater than what she has been taught. Her search for knowledge broadens her horizons, but it also reveals that shadows can take new forms, even beyond the environment she originally left behind. With this story, I want to do more than introduce readers to Platoโ€™s philosophy. I want to awaken in them a thirst for freedom, a desire to question accepted truths, and the courage to seek their own understanding of reality.

A Kiss in Eternity

In this work of poetic prose, a dream carries Helena into a universe of gods, heroes, and events from Greco-Roman antiquity. Imagination transforms the reading experience into a journey in which the narrative intertwines with desire, fantasy, and the human experience. I created this work to bring knowledge that has endured through the centuries back to life. More than simply presenting mythological characters and episodes, I want to transport readers into this universe, awakening their curiosity and showing how these stories can still enchant us and reveal new meanings in the present.

The My Home Series

Across six chapters, I tell the true story of building my home, Morada de Gaia. With virtually no resources, I refused to abandon my project. Throughout this journey, I learned that sometimes we need to stop listening to what tries to hold us back. For ten years, I worked, saved money, reused materials, faced unexpected challenges, and learned to turn limitations into possibilities. As the house took shape, I was transforming too. This work offers a different way to share lessons: not through theory or an imagined story, but through lived experience. By recounting my mistakes, discoveries, and choices, I show how planning, perseverance, creativity, and a willingness to learn can help us move forward, even when we do not know exactly how we will reach our destination.

What are the success factors for you as a writer?

I believe the main factors contributing to my success as a writer are authenticity and the diversity of my writing. I write what emerges from within me, what I find in my soul and what, in some way, needs to find expression through my words. I cannot write simply to please others, follow trends, or produce something that might seem interesting to them. I need to find truth in what I write, because it is impossible to offer something I do not possess myself.

I do not seek applause; I seek to touch the hearts of those who read my work. And when I feel I have succeeded, it brings me immense joy. I would rather receive ten claps from ten different people than fifty claps from a single person. I prefer to be a passage, a crossing point for messages that need to find their way to someone.

I devote myself to writing until I feel that my words come alive on the page and awaken something that goes beyond a collection of separate sentences. I do not write simply to fill pages.

This is how I recognize my connection with my readers. I offer messages filled with emotion so they can sense the life behind the stories. Sometimes, I have left a piece of my smile or my tears there, transformed into words.

What do you recommend to the new writers?

My first recommendation to new writers is to write for the joy of it. They should not turn writing into an obligation or reduce it to a source of income at the expense of their responsibility for the consequences of their work. Writing can certainly be a profession, but the desire to be read or to earn money should not make us forget that what we share can transform the way people interpret reality.

I encourage them to practice empathy. Before publishing, they should ask themselves: Who will read what I write? After all, we never know whether someone on the other side is going through a difficult time, feeling vulnerable and likely to be deeply affected by our words in ways we cannot even imagine.

I also recommend that they never spread poison through their writing. This does not mean ignoring the world’s pain, injustices, or difficulties. It means being aware of what we do with what we choose to share. We can address difficult subjects without fueling hatred or prejudice, or adding to the suffering that already exists.

May they be a positive force in the lives of those who read their work. May they offer knowledge, reflection, beauty, hope, or a new way of seeing the universe.

What are your plans as a writer or as a professional?

Professionally, I intend to continue implementing new ideas and perspectives because I believe we must always seek innovation. One of the fundamental principles of Quality Management is continuous improvement, and I strive to apply this philosophy not only to processes but also to my own development and that of the team I work with.

I want to continue training and mentoring young professionals, sharing not only procedures and work instructions but also the experience I have gained throughout my life. I consider it extremely important to pass on what we often cannot find in schools or books, but what life itself teaches us: responsibility, organization, discernment, the ability to deal with difficulties, and the importance of building good relationships with others.

I believe technical knowledge is essential, but professional development goes beyond it. To me, teaching does not simply mean guiding someone through a task. It means helping that person develop autonomy, critical thinking, and the confidence to continue along their own path.

As a writer, I hope to expand the reach of my work and find ways for my two unpublished books to reach readers in other countries as well. There are boundaries I want to cross, not only geographical ones, but also those that separate different ways of seeing, feeling, and understanding the world.

Sometimes, I feel the myths and deities trying to escape through the cracks in my books, as though the pages were too small to contain them. They refuse to remain locked away, and I must find the key to set them free.

I feel they still have much to say, carrying questions that have crossed the centuries and truths we may never have learned to hear. Times have changed, but have we truly understood everything that has been passed down to us? How many ideas have we left behind? How many narratives still hold meanings we have yet to discover?

That is why I want to be a passageway. Not to erase what has already been told, but to draw closer to what has been left at the margins, waiting for another perspective, another voice, another possibility of existing.

One of the books I still hope to publish features Helen as its protagonist. By letting her speak for herself, I want to explore aspects of her experience we cannot fully know through Homerโ€™s account: her feelings and how she understands the events that shaped her existence. I want to show what happens when a woman so often remembered as the one who set Troy ablaze finally gets to tell her own story.

I believe in the beauty of the encounter between the masculine and the feminine, in that unique complementarity that allows us to broaden our understanding of life. I donโ€™t see differences as competition, but as opportunities for mutual enrichment.

At the same time, I recognize that some experiences dwell in a womanโ€™s soul in a particular way. Certain pains, silences, and truths take on a different dimension when told by those who have lived through them. Some events deserve to be revisited so they can be revealed by those who felt their impact firsthand.

Perhaps I will never know how far my words will travel or whose hands will shelter them. Even so, I will keep moving forward, guided by the stories that call to me, the characters who refuse to be silenced, and the echoes of times past that continue to stir something within me. As long as something seeks a voice through me, I will keep writing.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity, Dr. Mehmet. I wish you, your editorial team, and the community the best.
